Forze

Hydrogen electric racing team of TU Delft

Completed at D:Dream Hall in collaboration with K. Regnery, R. Rodewijk, J. Wendling

 

Founded in 2007, the student team has built 8 hydrogen fuel cell racing vehicles. Forze VIII, in 2018 became the first hydrogen race car in history to compete in a FIA certified race.

Upgrades

Implementation of a 700 bar hydrogen system, a completely new front and rear suspension, a total redesign and production of the electrical wiring harness, and a completely new carbon fiber bodywork for much higher aerodynamic efficiency.

Achievements

On the circuit of Zandvoort, the Forze VIII holds the official lap record for an electric sports-cars at 1:56.958 where conditions were far from ideal.

 

On the TT circuit of Assen, the unofficial lap record of the Forze VIII is 1:55,809.

 

During Supercar Challenge at the Gamma Racing Day, Forze VIII became the world’s first hydrogen electric race car to beat petrol-powered cars in an official race.
